We can honestly say it isn't always our fault that we lose our balance in life. Employers, families and ourselves make demands on our lives. In this modern world we push ourselves to limits beyond our reasonable control, and in doing so we find we have less and less ME TIME. All sorts of different pressures of general life can cause imbalances. The nature of imbalance means the causes creep up on us so we're not always aware of the situation until we feel stressed. When we're in this kind of situation something has to give. Can it be work? Probably not. Can it be family? Difficult. So what's the easiest thing to knock on the head? Yes, that's right - ME TIME ... BUT ... without having ME TIME the rest of the issues become larger and larger as we find ourselves unable to cope. To re-gain our ME TIME , we need to work out: What's Important to Us 2 Looking at the list complete the Inventory of Life, i.e. highlight in different colours things you have to do, things you need to do, and things that make you happy. 3 Print off your Weekly Planner*, and write in those things that need to be done this week. Under Miscellaneous write things that need to be done but don't have a set time, like half-hour jobs such as topping up the anti-freeze in the car, cleaning the kitchen window, etc. 4 Now ... can you see where you have some spare time which you can devote just to you? This is your ME TIME. You can spend it doing things you enjoy and things that will help you relax. Go on ... pamper yourself ... have some fun!! * Don't worry it looks big but it prints off on four sheets of A4. Don't forget to click on the back button once you've finished printing. |
